BIOPHILIC DESIGN
TIME TO LET NATURE IN
What do we prefer to rest our eyes on? A bustling highway, or a lake? A steel structure, or a tree? For most of us, the answer is instinctively clear.
Humanity has thrived in harmony with nature for hundreds of millennia, and this profound cellular memory remains ingrained within us. Extensive research and numerous studies unequiv- ocally demonstrate that we flourish when immersed in or near the natural world. We de-stress, breathe more calmly, enhance our productivity, and connect with others in a more relaxed manner. It's simple, undeniable logic.
The average person today spends approximately 90% of their time indoors, disconnected from the very environment that has been our natural habitat since time immemorial. While it's incredibly challenging, if not nearly impossible, to escape the relentless pace of modern life, the pervasive feeling of something missing and a profound longing for a more fundamental connection is undeniably on the rise.
It’s no coincidence that our interior designers and stylists are increasingly integrating natural materials into public spaces and home interiors. This is the essence of Biophilic Design – Design drawn from nature.
This concept embraces elements like natural light, the sound of flowing water, moss. And trees. Everything that involves our senses. Not just because it's beautiful. Hopefully not because of fleeting trends either.
The profound connection to nature impacts our health and well-being in a myriad of positive ways. Consciously or unconsciously, it doesn't matter, because the truth of the effects is undeniable.
So, it's time to let nature in.
ABOUT US
ART INSTALLATION WITH FUNCTION
In close collaboration with my partner Fredrik and my sister Christina
(a classically trained bespoke tailor and textile sculptor), we have now developed the first collection of decorative lighting, designed for public spaces. These monumental floor and table lamps are destined to become magnificent eye-catchers in for example foyers and grand entrances.
Our tallest floor lamps standing at an impressive 2.60 meters.
Every step of the refinement process occurs right here on our farm. From the manual labor of hauling logs by wheelbarrow in the traditional way, to sanding, deep drilling, welding, turning, forging, bending,
and rolling. The lampshades are sewn and sculpted from Oeko-certified linen fabric.
The lamps are named SKOG. With a minimal environmental footprint,
we exclusively utilize naturally fallen trees, uprooted timber and thinned remnants. These are woods aged just enough to have released their bark, yet new enough to be untouched by decay. Aged wood at its most beautiful, where the cracks form natural design elements. Upcycling in its noblest form.
We go by the concept “Biophilic Designˮ, which fundamentally means “Design drawn from natureˮ. Each carefully selected timber and every sculpted shade is a singular masterpiece, a craftsmanship from inception to completion. We categorize these lamps as “Art Installation with Functionˮ, a fitting description given that each piece is, in itself,
a work of art. The fact that they illuminate and are CE-certified is simply an added benefit.
We are now opening the gates to this premiere collection of 28 lamps, and my pride is immense!
